Artist

Lee Hyo-kyung

A calligrapher who speaks through ink and water

Pen-holder frame with a blue butterfly, inscribed ‘How lucky I am to have met you’

A portrait of the artist will be placed here.

Before the first stroke, I spend a long time choosing the words — words that reach someone at the moment they need them, words that loosen the heart a little when read aloud.

Beside the writing, I paint the seasons. As a brush heavy with water spreads across the paper, flowers become flowers and fields become fields in their own way. The place where intention and accident meet is the moment I love most.

I hope each work stays a long time on someone’s desk or in a corner of their living room. That is why I don’t want to set prices alone. I want to listen to those who have looked at the work, and decide together.
